Managed Procurement

Direct factory sourcing.
Without leaving Australia.

ChinaDirect Sourcing manages your entire procurement process from here. Supplier research, vetting, negotiation, quality control, logistics, and delivery, handled end-to-end by our team in Australia and China.

Is This Right For You?

The managed path.
For clients who want the outcome
without flying to China.

Not every sourcing project requires a buying trip. For clients with specific categories to source, repeat orders to place, or projects where the timeline or volume does not justify travel, managed procurement delivers the same rigorous process, remotely.

Our team in China handles everything on your behalf. You stay in Australia, review and approve at each stage, and receive your goods delivered to site, without setting foot on a plane.

This is also the most common path for repeat orders once a supply chain has been established through a China Buying Trip or VIP Tour.

Specific Category Sourcing

Sourcing one or two specific categories where travel is not justified by the volume.

Repeat Orders

Reordering from suppliers already vetted and approved on a previous project or trip.

No Travel Available

Clients who cannot travel to China but want the same professional sourcing process.

Ongoing Supply Chain

Builders and developers who want a managed, repeating supply line across multiple projects.

Why Now

Domestic costs are climbing.
Direct sourcing locks in the gap.

Local build costs keep rising while factory-direct pricing stays fixed at negotiation. That gap is the case for managed procurement.

The Process

Six stages. Fully managed.
You approve, we execute.

01

Project Brief & Feasibility

You tell us what you need to source, categories, specifications, quantities, and target pricing. We review the brief, assess feasibility, and confirm whether managed procurement or a buying trip is the stronger fit for your situation.

Your role: Share your product list, specs, and project details. We handle the rest.

02

Supplier Research & Shortlist

Our China team researches and shortlists manufacturers from our 30,000+ supplier database. Every supplier is assessed on export history, certifications, production capability, and compliance with Australian Standards before being presented to you.

Your role: Review the shortlist we present. Ask questions. Choose your direction.

03

Quotes, Samples & Approval

We obtain competing quotes, run the comparison, and negotiate on your behalf. Samples are sourced, shipped to you for review, and approved before any production commitment is made.

Your role: Review samples. Approve or request changes. Confirm the order.

04

Production & QA Monitoring

Production begins once you approve samples and the order is confirmed. Our China team monitors production at key milestones. Optional independent third-party inspections can be arranged during production, quoted per inspection day.

Your role: Receive progress updates. Approve inspections if required. Stay informed, without travelling.

05

Pre-Shipment & Export

Before goods leave China, we conduct a pre-shipment inspection, verify all compliance documentation, and prepare export paperwork, fumigation certificates, commercial invoices, mill certificates, and test reports.

Your role: Review final documentation. Confirm shipment. We handle the rest.

06

Shipping, Customs & Delivery

Goods are consolidated and shipped to your nominated Australian port, approximately 3 weeks sea freight. Australian customs clearance is handled through our broker. Truck delivery to your site.

Your role: Receive your goods. Review delivery against documentation.

Compliance

Australian Standards.
Documented at every stage.

Electrical Equipment

RCM

All electrical goods require the Regulatory Compliance Mark. RCM registration numbers are verified against the ERAC database before shipment.

Plumbing (QLD)

Form 15

Plumbing goods require WaterMark certification. We advise on what can be sourced and connect you with RPEQ engineers where Form 15 is required on installation.

Structural Materials

AS/NZS

Mill certificates and engineering certification required for structural elements. Documentation collected at the factory and reviewed before shipment.

Windows & Doors

AS2047

Glazed assemblies must meet AS2047. Compliance is verified against the specific product SKU being shipped, not generic supplier declarations.

Tiles & Flooring

AS4586

Wet-area and external surfaces require slip-resistance classification. Certification verified per SKU and batch, not by product range.

All Categories

Documented

Every managed procurement project is delivered with a full compliance file, test reports, mill certs, fumigation certificates, and all relevant Australian Standards documentation.

Inspection Services

Your quality control
on the ground.

CDS maintains experienced inspectors in China’s key manufacturing regions. Every stage of production can be independently verified, so quality issues are caught before goods leave the factory, not after they arrive on site.

Additional Services

Beyond sourcing.

Strategic Partnership

Joint Ventures

Companies with prior experience in China may explore forming a Joint Venture with a local Chinese enterprise. Leveraging our extensive network and in-depth local knowledge, CDS can research and identify potential JV partners that align with your objectives and requirements.

Long-Term Investment

Own Factory in China

Over time, some of our clients opt to establish their own factories in China. Although we generally advise against this during the initial phases of engaging with China, it may be a suitable course of action for specific companies and products. With extensive experience in setting up new factories in China, CDS can guide you through every stage of the process.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

There is no single MOQ across the board. Each factory sets its own minimums, and they vary widely by category and how a product is finished. Where your volume sits below a supplier's standard run, we consolidate across lines or negotiate the minimum down on your behalf. The better question is whether a project's total value clears the savings threshold. Book a strategy call and we'll scope your actual quantities before you commit.

We work from a base of 30,000+ vetted suppliers and verify each project's factory beyond the paperwork. ISO 9001 and a supplier's own self-declaration are not enough on their own. We confirm the factory is the real manufacturer, check business licences and export history, audit production capacity, and run sample inspections. With 20+ years and Guangzhou and Yiwu teams on the ground, vetting happens in person, not over email.

We do, on your behalf. Our China teams run in-line and pre-shipment inspections against an agreed spec sheet, so defects are caught before goods are paid for in full and loaded. You stay in Australia and receive inspection reports and photos at each checkpoint. For test-dependent items we arrange ILAC or NATA-accredited lab reports rather than relying on a supplier's word that a product passes.

That depends on the product and we scope it upfront. Windows and doors must meet AS 2047, wet-area finishes need AS 4586 slip ratings, and electrical goods require RCM marking. We specify the right standard before production and source accredited test reports to match. Structural items needing a Form 15 still require an RPEQ engineer in Australia to issue it; a supplier cannot. We make sure the documentation a certifier needs exists before goods ship.

Building and fit-out materials are our core: kitchens and cabinetry, tiles, flooring, doors and windows, lighting, bathroom and tapware, hardware, and fixed joinery. We also handle FF&E for developers furnishing at scale. If a category falls outside vetted supply or can't meet the compliance bar for Australian use, we'll tell you rather than chase it. Register your project and we'll confirm what we can source against your scope.

We don't publish a flat fee because every project differs in volume, category mix, and how much QA and logistics oversight it needs. Fees are scoped per project once we understand your scope, and quoted before any work begins. The commercial logic holds either way: clients typically see 30 to 50 percent savings versus Australian pricing, and 20 to 40 percent material cost reductions. Book a strategy call for a scoped proposal.
