Compliance
Compliance for goods sourced from China, by category.
Compliance is the point where overseas-sourced product most often comes undone. This page sets out what we ask for in each category. Your certifier, engineer or licensed trade makes the final call on your project.
What we do and what we do not
We ask each factory for the documents your certifier is likely to want, and we check that they match the exact product being shipped. We do not issue certificates, and we do not decide whether a product is acceptable for your building.
- A supplier self-declaration or an ISO 9001 certificate alone is not enough evidence
- Test reports should come from an ILAC-accredited laboratory
- Documents must refer to the product being shipped, not a generic range
By category
- Windows and doors
- Glazed external window and door assemblies must meet AS 2047. We request test evidence for the exact assembly and only work with factories able to provide it.
- Tiles and flooring
- Slip-resistance ratings are assessed under AS 4586. We request the ratings for the product and your certifier confirms they suit the application.
- Electrical equipment
- RCM marking and registration are required. We check that the supplier understands the obligation before an order is placed.
- Plumbing
- Plumbing goods require WaterMark certification. In Queensland, a Form 15 is issued by an RPEQ engineer on installation, not by an overseas supplier. We prepare supporting documentation and can connect you with qualified engineers.
- Structural materials
- Mill certificates and engineering certification are required. We obtain and verify the documentation before shipment, and your engineer signs off.
- Cladding and facades
- We request test reports and material certification first. We make no claims about fire performance. Your certifier decides whether a product is acceptable.
- All other categories
- Every category is assessed for applicable Australian Standards. If there is a requirement, we document it.
Form 15 in plain terms
A Form 15 is a compliance certificate issued in Australia, not by a supplier. A Form 15 cannot come from an overseas supplier. Our role is to make sure your engineer has the supporting evidence they need.
Common questions
Can a Chinese supplier issue a Form 15?
No. It is issued by an RPEQ engineer in Australia. We help you assemble the supporting evidence your engineer needs.
Who decides whether a product complies?
Your certifier, engineer or licensed trade. We supply documents. We do not make the decision.
What if the documents are not good enough?
We tell you before you order. If a factory cannot provide what your certifier needs, we look at another factory or advise against the category.
Check the documents before you order.
Tell us the categories on your project. We will outline what your certifier is likely to ask for.
General information only. Requirements vary by state, project and product. Confirm with your certifier.
